Dear , We are using PGP Universal Server however we were not using it for full extent . Now we want to use it to Roll out PGP Desktop to some clients and Enable Whole disk Encryption . With the help of a vendor in the past , we have created a Policy in PGP and mapped it with one of AD Group . Any user moved to that group will get WDE automatically and the user will be using his Windows Password to login to the Laptop however this is not in action yet as I am concerned about the Data recovery Options .
Can someone guide me on what steps to be done to achieve this .

I'm getting this error for a client:
"WDE Auto Encryption policy was ignored on machine GERENCIA001 as encryption on the type of boot disk (GPT/MBR) is not supported on the current operating system."
The client is running Windows 7 as his fellows do with no problem at all.

The Universal Server admin guide does not clearly state how the syntax should be. If anyone can shed some light on the syntax that is to be used for example to select:
OU=Users,DC=ACTHolding,DC=com,DC=lb

Hi,
I'm in the process of encrypting all the Company's laptops and I run into a problem with a 64 bit Windows 8 Pro tablet.
The client installs smoothly, then reboot and Enroll, everything ok so far, but after the Enrollment the Wizard to define the Security Questions doesn't start, it just starts encrypting.
When the encryption is done I log into Windows as a different domain user, the Enrollment windows pops up for the new user but the Wizard for the Security Questions doesn't.
In the User Access section of the Symantec Encryption Desktop, both the Windows user are listed but none of them has (of course) the LSR at the right of the name.
Further, the Add Security Questions... button is dimmed. I can only add the Security Questions to each user by right-clicking the name and clicking on the popping up menu option. At the Bootguard though there is no way to have the system asking for the Security Questions, no button for that or menu choice.
Any idea on how to fix this?

Looking for some assistance here. I've asked Mr. google, but to no avail. Here's my question... Can the mobile PGP Viewer App for IOS handle keys for more than one domain? I ask because the division of my company has our own instance of exchange with email address @abc.com for example. We're standing up PGP now. My parent company has a pgp server with domain def.com. All employees have an email address in both organizations. As you can guess, our systems need to be completely seperate, so no sharing on servers of private keys. The question is, is it possible for the PGP Viewer for IOS to support multiple keys? I've searched everywhere and came up with nothing.

Last night, I upgraded our Symantec Encryption server from version 3.3.1 (Build 13100) to 3.3.1 MP1 (Build 13266).
The install appeared to complete successfully, it was rebooted automatically, and after checking the logs, all events completed successfully.
However, now when I logon to the server GUI and check under System > General Settings, the Server Version still displays as 3.3.1 (Build 13100).
I have downloaded and installed the client package on the PC I use to administer NetShares and found that it installs the latest version correctly. I now have a PC that displays the version as 10.3.1 MP1 [Build 13266].
Can someone please assist?

Hello everyone, while clustering two PGP Universal Servers I came across strange issue. I have two PGP servers that were running seperately as person who setp them up most probably simply forgot the cluster them. At first I tried to make server2 a cluster sponsor as this one was mostly used and server1 to join the cluster. Howeverm even though both are in the same network, they did not manage to form a cluster. So I tried to make server1 as cluster sponsor and make server2 joining. It worked like charm. And then the problems began. All configuration that was stored on server2 (users, keys...) was lost. I realised that when I was unable to use PGP Desktop. Re-enrollment did not work either, even though both servers reported no problems with connection to backing LDAP and users on PGP server were created, but without keys. Then I realised that except users and keys, also WDE devices and ingition keys were gone. I tried to recreate ingition keys, but it did not work as I received only error messages that ignition key cannot be created. Has anyone came across similar issue and could provide some hints? I am setting up a new PGP email gateway and all seems to be fine except i have set a mail policy under outbound and none of the messages are being encrypted. Looking at the logs i can see ("Default", rule: "Implicit Default Send Clear Rule") under the email address i was to encrypt messages for. I have disabled all of the other rules so I don't understand why it is sending the mail as clear.
Any help would be great!
I am using 3.2.1 version of the PGP system as well.

We have a new installation of Symantec Encryption Servers, version 3.3.0, build 8741. Two servers are internal, two are Web Messenger servers in our DMZ and load balanced. One of our external recipients has been reporting that she deletes emails in the portal and when she logs back in at a later date those deleted emails have reappeared. The emails are being sent to a shared external address but it is my belief that only one person is logging into this portal account. The emails are normally sent with exactly the same subject line, and they reappear with the original sent date and time. I managed to recreate this issue in my own portal account one time, but since then have failed. I know very little about this system as it was kind of dumped on me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm a new user and I need to move 3 3.1 MP1. I downloaded all 6 files from the FileConnect because I wasn't sure which ones I actually needed. I assume I would use the
Desktop 10.3.1_PUP,
3.3.1_PUP,
3.3.1MP1,
the Web 3.3.1Full and the Web3.3.1MP1Full
But I don't understand what is required for the desktop and the universal upgrades and I couldn't find the most current upgrade documentation. Please point me in the right direction for procedures on how to upgrade and the proper versions to use.

I'm creating on each encrypted laptop a local user with the pgpwde command line, with the purpose to be able to access the laptop in case the authorized Domain user is not available without the need to use the WDRT or the Disk Administrator password which we keep in a safe.
Is it possible to see and manage that user and assign him to a Policy on the Encryption Manager Server (PGP Universal Server)?

So the previous Admin of our PGP services passed away and I'm now trying to piece it all together.
We have approximately 100 clients running WDE on 10.3.0. (windows dekstop client). We're rolling out Windows 8 so I needed to upgrade it to 10.3.1 and that from what I can tell required me to update the Universal PGP server.
I found the 3.3.1 MP1 PUP file from File Connect, downloaded, uploaded, and installed. The universal server seems to be working fine, I was able to encrypt a Windows 8 workstation and the SSO works just fine. So here is my predicament/Questions:

I have Symantec Encryption Server managed environment.
Can we send encrypted emails to our customers emails IDs like gmail etc. and vice versa; can we receive encrypted emails from the customers?
I plan to upgrade the PGP Universal server this weekend from version 10.3.0 MP3 to 10.3.1 MP1. I have two question that I would like to find answers to before comfortably proceeding with the upgrade.
Question 1 - Since previously upgrading from version 10.3.0 to 10.3.0MP3, our current version, I’ve noticed that in the administrative logs, about 100 times every 10 minutes I’m receiving a error (validation error loading ovidprefs file /etc/ovid/prefs.xml : dlp is a required field. Trying to load without validation.)
Now, I know there is a fix for this by actually editing the pref.xml file and adding settings between <SMS and </SMS> from file pref.xml.rpmnew or prefs.xml.save into the prefs.xml file. This is something I have not done yet. It has not caused function issues but I do want to clear it up ASAP.
So finally my question, a two part question, Should I perform the manual fix for this before upgrading? OR will the latest upgrade fix this issue for us?
Question 2 – When I upgrade to this latest 10.3.1MP1 version, will the older 10.3.0 clients still be compatible OR am I requred to upgrade all the Symantec Encryption desktop clients to 10.3.1MP1 before they can functions? I’ve seen statements about backwards compatibility on the previous update documentation but it seems there is nothing on the new version documentation regarding this. Can someone please let me know for sure?
